Still Time to Order Flowers

by Daniel Garnsey - February 6, 2012

The Student Council has been doing great in getting orders for the Valentines Day flowers. President Adriana Rangel said that they have sold, on average, a total of twenty-five orders. If you have not yet received one of those beautiful pink papers with the information on it, see one of our great STUCO members: Adriana Rangel, Nicole Campbell, Amelia Santillan, Daniel Koch, and Gabby Tarango. All forms must be turned in before the 9th.

Student Council Meets

by Daniel Koch and Amelia Santillan - January 18, 2012

Today the student council met to discuss what they'll be doing for valentine's day. It was a very productive meeting. The first order in the meeting was discussing what kind of flowers they would sell for Valentines day. It may seem like a little early to be worrying about Valentine's Day. But they do say early bird gets the worm.

Next week the student council will be handing out order forms for flower, balloon and chocolate orders. It still isn't clear if the flowers will be roses or carnations or both. All payments must be made to the Valentine Student Council NOT THE Valentine Travel Class. Once again all payments must be made to the Valentine Student Council so there will not be any charging of orders.

The deadline for ordering will be on February 9th, 2012. So, if you are interested in purchasing any Valentine's Day flowers, balloons or chocolates for that special someone or a friend make sure to catch a student council member starting on Monday of next week (1-23-12) to get an order form.

The student council members are Adriana Rangel, Nicole Campbell, Amelia Santillan, Daniel Koch, Gabriela Tarango, Jaclyn Garcia and Ignacio Santillan. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask any of the members or Mr. Cook.

Their second order of business was the Student Council trip. So far, they have decided that they might go to one or possibly two museums in the El Paso area. It is not for sure yet because there still the possibility that they might go to Midland, Odessa, or somewhere else. A date has not been set for the next Student Council meeting. If you would like anything to be discussed contact your local Student Council representative.

Student Council Meeting

by Daniel Koch - October 12, 2011

At the Student Council meeting Tuesday, October 11, we talked about Pink Day, College Day, and Veterans Day. For those of you wanting to know what Pink Day is, it is a day that everyone wears pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness month. It will be Friday, October 21st . College Day is the day that we dress up in our favorite college shirt/jersey. This will be on the first Wednesday of every month, the first one is November 2nd. For Veterans Day this year, the Student Council will serve the soup dinner instead of the Travel Class as had been done in the past. The Student Council will be doing the dinner after the Veterans Day celebration. The dinner will be served at the High School Auditorium. The ceremony will be held at the Valentine Veterans Memorial.

Monday's Student Council Meeting - 9/26

by Daniel Koch - September 27, 2011

At the Student Council Meeting Monday we discussed what we were going to do for Spirit Week, College Day, Red Ribbon Week, and King and Queen Election. For Spirit Week, we decided that Monday would be Nerd Day, Tuesday would be Mismatch Day, Wednesday is Hawaiian Shirt Day, Thursday is Neon Day, and Friday is Spirit day.

What is college day you ask? Well it is a day out of the week or month that you wear a jersey or shirt of the college you wish to go to. It is not in effect yet but after the next Student Council Meeting in October, it possibly will be. Don't forget about Red Ribbon Week. It will be the next to last week of October.

The King and Queen Elections are still undecided. For sure Daniel Garnsey, Daniel Koch, and Aaron Morton are in the King's Court. As as for the Queen's Court it is Amelia Santillan, Nicole Campbell, and Adriana Rangel. The final elections are Friday October, 7.

Present at the meeting were President Adriana Rangel, Vice President Nicole Campbell, Secretary Amelia Santillan, Sophomore Representative Daniel Koch, Freshman Representative Gabriela Tarango, and Junior High Representatives Jaclyn Garcia, and Ignacio Santillan. And for those of you who are in Student Council we are having a meeting at least once a month.

Adriana Rangel is Student Council President

By Daniel Garnsey - September 21, 2011

Daniel G: Are there any goals for Student Council this year?

Adriana R: We need to organize Spirit Week and get ready for Veterans Day.

Daniel G: How do you feel about the trip being canceled?

Adriana R: Upset! It is my senior year and it was always exciting to go. It is great for younger students, because they would teach you leadership and encourage you to rejoin.

Daniel G: How did the election go?

Adriana R: They went well. I am the President, Nicole is vice-President, Amelia is Secretary, there are no Junior representatives, the Sophomore representative is Daniel, and the Freshman representative is Gabriela. Also the Junior High Representatives are Ignacio and Jackie.

Daniel G: Are there any issues in Student Council?

Adriana R: Yes, canceling the trip to Arlington seemed to decrease the enrollment in Student Council.
