For those of you who are unfamiliar with the far West Texas area, Valentine is located in Jeff Davis County. Fort Davis, Texas is the County seat. Population of Valentine is 214. Our main occupation in this area is ranching. The annual rainfall is approximately 14 inches a year. We are located on Highway 90 between Marfa and Van Horn, Texas. The school district covers 900+ square miles.

Regarding your tax statement, you will receive "2” statements…

ONE from Rick McIvor, Sheriff/Tax Assessor-Collector, Jeff Davis County, which is your county tax assessment and

ONE from Maralea Miller, Tax Assessor-Collector, Valentine ISD* Tax Office, which is your school tax assessment.

We are not a consolidated taxing unit and therefore you must pay each entity separately.
