The Valentine Pirate basketball team will play the Water Valley Wildcats on Friday, February 24 th in Imperial at 6:30 pm. We will have an early release on Friday, February 24th. School will let out at noon on Friday. Let's go and cheer on our Pirates as they advance in Area competition.

First Track Meet: Presidio

Get ready to run in the sun just for fun! On Saturday February, 17th, the Valentine Pirates will be going to their first track meet of the year in sunny Presidio, Texas for the Border Relays.

The entire Valentine Pirates basketball team, Cayenne Webb, and Amelia Santillan will be participating in the meet. The Pirates basketball team will be running the two mile race, Cayenne will be running the two hundred and the two mile, and last but not least Amelia will be throwing the shot put.

Lets hope that all the Pirates will run and throw to their fullest tomorrow. Don't forget the Pirates will playing at Sul Ross on Monday February 19th.



Track Begins Saturday

The Pirate and Lady Pirate track teams will be traveling to downtown Presidio for a run in the sun just for fun on Saturday the 18th. The athletes attending this trip are Cayenne Webb and Amelia Santillan. Cayenne Webb will be running the 200 meter dash, and the 2 mile run. Amelia Santillan will be throwing the shotput.

The Pirate Basketball team will also be attending the track meet for a good old fashion 2 mile run. The team will be running just for fun and not for competition, due to the fact that they will be playing in Alpine at the Pete P. Gallego Center against the Buena Vista Longhorns for the Bi-District Championship and do not want to risk the chances of any injuries. "The track meet will be fun and very, very, very, very, very exciting,” says Coach McWilliams. "I believe that everyone will do just fine.”

Track season is coming up and we're all very excited. We've got a strong team coming back with Daniel Garnsey and Nicole Campbell leading the team as Area Qualifiers. Amelia Santillan, Daniel Koch, and Cayenne Webb will also be coming back. The Pirates are buzzing over the new additions to the team: Freshman Rye Webb and Latham Garnsey. And coming out of his two year hiatus, Area High Jump Qualifier, Aaron Morton! The team is looking to be a promising one and is definitely going to make some noise in district this year.
