The Meeting for Valentine Parents and Teachers was called to order at 3:30 pm in the Elementary school kitchen. In attendance were Mrs. Irma Porras, Miss Bianca Porras, Mr. Brad Bernards, Mr. Brent McWilliams, Mr. Rocky Northrip, Ms. Rita Weigart, and Ms. Marilyn Miller.
The reading of the last minutes meeting was read by Ms. Weigart. Mrs. Porras gave an overview of the Valentine Parents/Teachers group and read the mission statement. Mrs. Porras then gave the treasures report. There is $3,947.00. Scholarships were claimed for the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the class of 2011. Mrs. Porras then explained that this parent/teacher group has two fund raisers; the Fall Festival, and the Ice Cream Social.
The Fall Festival was discussed and agreed by all that the Festival will be held on Monday, October 31st. The Festival will start at 4:30 pm in the afternoon and end at 7:00 pm in the evening. Booths were discussed and some changes were made. Mrs. Porras will make parents/teachers aware of the changes. We will still ask for donations for the $100.00 VISA gift card. The VPT Cookbook was discussed and Ms. Weigart will get with Maralea Miller if she wants to do it this year or not. Mrs. Porras explained that we will need VPT funds to buy prizes. It was agreed that $300.00 would be enough for prizes.
